The Dickinson County Conservation Board staffs the Abbie Gardner Cabin and State Historic Site in an agreement with the Iowa State Historical Society.

The Abbie Gardner Cabin & Museum tells the story of the Spirit Lake Massacre and of 13-year-old Abbie Gardner, whose family was killed during the 1857 violence and who was taken captive by Inkpaduta's Native American band. See the original cabin on the property as well as a monument in remembrance of the deceased settlers.

Hours

The Abbie Gardner Cabin & Museum is open noon-4 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday Memorial Day-Labor Day.
