8 a.m. Saturday, May 14: Warbler Walk
Location: Marble Lake Boat Ramp
Join local birder Ed Thelen and trek through beautiful Kettleson Hogsback State Park in search of warblers and other feathered friends. Learn how to identify and spot these little neo-tropical birds as they migrate back to the area to start a family. Bring your binoculars and bird book; extra will be available. Meet at Marble Lake Boat Ramp, The entrance is north of Moellers Marine on 240th Avenue on the west side of Big Spirit Lake.
1 p.m. Saturday, May 14: Live Great-Horned Owl Program
Location: Dickinson County Nature Center
Come to the Dickinson County Nature Center to learn more about one of the top avian predators that calls Iowa home. This nocturnal bird has many adaptations that help it survive year-round. Catch a glimpse of a real, live great-horned owl chick in person. Learn how local wildlife rehabilitators help these and other animals and what you can do if you find one.
