Step 1:
You will start by tracing your hand twice or by tracing both your hands. Either way, you will need two hand tracings. Then you will cut them out.
Step 2:
After you have cut out the handprints, you’re going to turn them back to back. Lay one on top of the other at an angle to look like feathers. Glue them together. I cut the thumb off the bottom to be out of the way but do what you want.
Step 3:
Next, you’re going to cut a small rectangle out of the black paper. Then you will cut the corners off to make it less of a rectangle. It’s a bit of a weird shape but that’s okay. Make it any shape you want. Then glue it on!

Step 4:
Next, you’re going to take your yellow paper and cut out a beak and some feet. Then you will glue them on.
Step 5:
Finally, stick that googly eye on there to finish your bird up.
Now you can hang your cardinal in the window or set him up somewhere. If you want to make your guy a friend, female cardinals are brown. So you could use the same pattern to make a female. Check out our blog to learn more about the Northern Cardinal. Let us know if you make this craft too. We would love to see it!
