Make your own Punxsutawney Phil

With yesterday being Groundhog Day, I decided we should be able to make our own Punxsutawney Phil. Now you can have your own groundhog too!

Let’s start with the supplies you will need.

Step 1:

Start by drawing and cutting out the body of the groundhog.

Step 2:

Once you have the body cut out, draw circles for the ears and cut them out. I also have my finger puppet holes drawn on the bottom of the groundhog.

Step 3:

Glue the ears to the top of the groundhog. Then cut out the finger holes so you can make him a puppet.

Step 4:

Cut out circles from the white paper for the eyes and then cut out slightly smaller circles from the black paper for the pupils. Then glue them together and glue them on the face.

Step 5:

Cut a rounded triangle out of the black paper for the nose. I made mine a little bigger but you can make yours any size you want. Then glue it on and give him a mouth. If you want, you can add teeth but I felt like it made him look like a beaver so I decided not to add teeth.

Now you have your very own Punxsutawney Phil or whatever you want to name him or her! I love all the circles involved. I think he looks so cute and you can carry him around on your fingers. Let us see if you decide to make your very own groundhog for Groundhog Day and stay warm through the next six weeks of winter.
