Prairie Paradise camp is for children entering 4-year-old preschool in the fall of 2019 and will be held 9 a.m.-1 p.m. June 4-5 at the Dickinson County Nature Center. Campers should wear outdoor clothing, bring a water bottle and a sack lunch. More details will be provided to the parent/guardian of the registrant via e-mail prior to the camp.

Registration is $40 for Conservation Foundation of Dickinson County members or $50 for non-members, and that cost includes a free T-shirt.

There is a maximum of 15 participants in this program.


  • Kayaking beginners class: Session 1

A certified instructor will take beginning kayakers through the basics of entering and exiting your kayak, safety techniques and paddling. The location of the class will depend on weather and wind conditions, and all registered participants will receive an e-mail prior to the class detailing the location. Please wear water-appropriate clothing and sunblock and bring water. You may borrow a kayak and PFD or bring your own; simply indicate your choice on the registration form.

Choose from one of three sessions:
Session 1: 9 a.m.-noon June 17
Session 2: 1-4 p.m. June 17
Session 3: 1:30-4:30 p.m. June 18

Participants must be at least 16 years old, and there is a maximum of five students per class.

Registration is $45 for Conservation Foundation of Dickinson County members or $55 for non-members, and that cost includes a free T-shirt.

Choose either session 1 9:30-11:30 a.m. or session 2 1:30-3:30 p.m. Campers should wear outdoor clothing and bring suntan lotion and a water bottle. Location will be dependent on weather and wind conditions. Location and other details will be provided to the parent/guardian of the registrant via e-mail prior to the camp.

The location of the class will depend on weather and wind conditions, and all registered participants will receive an e-mail prior to the class detailing the location. Please wear water-appropriate clothing and sunblock and bring water, a sack lunch, PFD and your own kayak, at least 10 feet long.

Participants must be at least 16 years old, have kayaking experience and have taken a beginners-level class. There is a maximum of five students for this class.
