Family Nature Night: A You Choose Storybook Adventure
Do you like to pick your own adventure? What would you choose if you had the choice between following an owl down a trail or over a wall? Would you ask an owl a question?
You can make the decision on Friday Nov. 20 at the You Choose Storybook Walk for Family Nature Night. This program will be held outside the Dickinson County Nature Center and around Kenue Park. This event will be held at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. with a limit of six families per timeslot.
“We chose to do a You Choose Storybook Walk so the kids could choose their own ending. Once they land at one ending, they’re also welcome to start over and make different choices for more fun,” said naturalist, Ashley Hansen.
This walk will start outside the nature center but be a self-guided tour to help to keep socially distanced. There will be a limited number of flashlights and lanterns available at the nature center but feel free to bring your own as it will start to get dark around 5 p.m. Each reading station will have a light as well.
There are eight different endings with the longest route will take about 45 minutes. Along the way expect to make decisions based on what the Owl from the story asks you. It could take you down a trail or you could get to ask an owl a question.
“It will be a fun way to get outside while still enjoying a story,” Hansen said.
Come join us for a You Choose Storybook Walk at Family Nature Night. We’re so excited to see what you choose.
