Nature Playtime for Toddlers
Tuesday, April 2nd at 10:30 am
This series of programs at the Nature Center is geared for children ages 1-3, promoting sensorial activities using natural materials. Please call ahead to register: 712.336.6352

Earth Day at the Nature Center
Saturday, April 20th 10am to 8pm
11:00 AM “Red-tail Hawk” with Christina Roelefs, Shelby County Naturalist.  Christina will share her knowledge about Redtail Hawks and have a live hawk for an up close and personal view of this incredible raptor.
1:00 PM “Hike the Trails” with DCCB Naturalists Charles Vigdal and Barbara Tagami  Take a leisurely hike through Kenue Park as we explore and witness exciting events of spring in our natural world. Be prepared to have fun!
4:00 PM  “Screech Owls” with Christina Roelefs, Shelby County Naturalist. These delightful little nocturnal raptors will enchant you!  Come meet Christina’s owl and learn about the habits of this owl.

6- 8 PM at the Dickinson County Nature Center
Bring an Hors d’ oeuvres for sharing, we furnish wine and other beverages and Join us this evening as we take the time to celebrate Earth Day and reflect on what active roll each one of us can play in supporting efforts to sustain, improve and minimize the impact the we humans have on our environment and all creatures that call this world home.
7:00 PM “ The Bald Eagle Story” with Christina Roelefs, Shelby County Naturalist
This is truly a success story of how, when we do the right thing to correct the course of a negative impact on the world, we help to heal and restore the delicate natural balance.  It starts with understanding that we humans are but a single strand in the web of life and that what we do as a single species has an impact on the whole web. Christine will have her rehabbed Bald Eagle with her.

The Art of Flyfishing
Tuesday, April 9th, 23rd, May 7th 6pm to 8pm
This is a four part class (March 26, April 9, 23, May 7) at the Nature Center, taught by flyfishing enthusiast Gary Phillips. Learn what equipement to use, how to cast, fly tying and go out and test your flies! Open to all ages. Please call to register. 712.336.6352

Tuesday Evening Science Lecture; Okoboji reads Leopold
Tuesday, April 16th at 6pm
Join us at the Nature Center for this special presentation Okoboji reads Leopold . Come and listen to members of the community read excerpts of Aldo Leopold’s famous book, Sand County Almanac.

Hiking the Trails
Saturday, April 27th at 1pm

Join us at the Nature Center for a hike on the Spine Trail as we botanize, look for animal signs or just plain enjoy the great outdoors. This hike will focus on Mother Earth and what we can do to protect her!
